A Summer in Yellowstone 1: The Adventure Begins
by Patty Mills
With the Yellowstone Association employment application filled out and mailed, the next step for me was to wait and see if someone would call, or if I'd receive a nice "thanks, but no thanks" letter. This was one of those adventures that I thought about many times. I had no control over its ending now, with the application being filed away in a metal cabinet or shredded, or someone reading it and thinking, hey, let's give this woman a call. (This is part 1 of Patty's series. Use these links to catch up on the rest of the series: Part 2, Part 3, Part 4.)

Celebrate Midsummer With the Finns!
by Renee Prinkki and Barbara Herbert
TERVETULOA! Welcome to the Midsummer Celebration, the beginning of real summer in Finland. The winters in Northern Europe can be long and hard. Finally, when the cold winter releases her grip on Finland, summer comes, and there is much celebration throughout the country. It is a time to be with family and friends and sample the abundance of food that has been prepared. Saunas are warmed and there are many activities to be enjoyed. One tradition from the past is to build a huge bonfire by the water. All over Finland, close to midnight on Midsummer Eve, the bonfires are lit.

I've never been blessed with a large stature. Like any man, I often flex in the mirror and dream of having biceps as thick as my legs. However, all that stares back at me is a lanky, boney frame. But you know, I'm okay with that now. Sure, I received the occasional swirly in school and often used my little size to outrun bigger thugs, but now that I'm an adult--at least I think I am--size really doesn't matter to me anymore.

With a name like cioppino (pronounced cho-pee-no) you would think this dish came from Italy. But it did not. It's one of those ethnic-American dishes that were developed over here. Our local Finns have a fish stew called Moijakka (sometimes called "kalomoijakka") which seems to be a Minnesota, Dakota-Montana thing.

While channel-surfing on TV the other day, I came across Jon Stewart running a collage of videos where Fox News' Glenn Beck was comparing Barack Obama and the Democrats to Adolf Hitler and the Nazis. I'd like to call this an isolated incident, but it isn't. The news is full of conservative pundits, commentators, and bloggers comparing our president to Hitler.

Awww, shucks! Montana is just a doggone friendly place! We know that because, unlike the rush of urban life, where people dash from one place to another, avoiding eye contact, we rural and small-town Montanans go out of our way to greet one another. We say good morning, we comment on the weather, and we wave at each other as we drive in cars. It?s just downright good etiquette.

The Sexiest Garment Ever Invented
by Ryan Sankey
The sexiest garment ever invented is not the teddy. It is not the lace bikini. It has never been a "hottest item of the season" at Vic's. The sexiest garment ever invented is... the starched white shirt.

Could Have Used More Tights: A Review of Robin Hood (2010)
by Doug Robson
Robin Hood: A classic tale told through the generations of a rebel who stole from the rich to give to the needy; a man who, with his pack of merry men, took resources from the people who didn't need it, and helped out the poor. Truly a hero of legend, Sir Robin of Loxley. His story has been told throughout the ages, and has been told many different ways. In this, the year of 2010, director Ridley Scott took it upon himself to remind people of this legend in the form of a film. It's a revitalization of the epic tale told through the eyes of one of the greatest directors in all of Nerd-dom. Here's a plot summary.
